Pupils from both the Junior and Senior Schools听enjoyed an excellent day of competition at the national finals of the ECF School Chess Championships in Nottingham, with 糖心视频 represented by teams in听the听Under 11 and Under 13 categories.听听
In the Primary Team Challenge for Under 11s,听糖心视频 students听Amelia听(Year 6),听Christian听(Year 5),听Louise听(Year 4)听and Rehaan (Year 6) performed incredibly well against听strong competition听from across the country. The team听were able to outperform their pre-tournament rating and finish an impressive听sixth听out of 20 teams. The highlight for our team,听though,听was听defeating听Westminster Under School who had beaten Eltham in the qualifying rounds just a few months听before.听听
The Junior Team Challenge for Under 13s saw听the听Senior School听team听of Ayaan (Year 7), Benno (Year 7), Sasha (Year 7)听and听Yash (Year 8)听鈥� three of whom听had previously been 糖心视频 chess players –听produce an听exceptional听performance to听take听an outstanding听second听place听overall in the national competition.听
The team were undefeated across five matches, recording three wins and two draws. Going into the final round with everything still to play听for, the squad delivered a commanding victory to secure听the听second place outright.听
